Ashgrove cement quarry, Midlothian, Texas
24 March 2007

The Ashgrove cement quarry is located in the Austin Chalk - Eagle Ford shale contact zone northwest of Midlothian, Tx.   The layers or sediments that contain black phosphatic fossils are no good for cement lime production so it's piled up as waste.

A lot more pictures from this field trip are at Roz's website:

Roz's finds??
The next day me, Roz, Polly and Adam continued hunting with a trip to a couple Pawpaw formation exposures around Fort Worth.   We found nice little pyrited ammonites, turrilites, and crabs.   Click Here to see.
