Palynology of the Garner Formation (Strawn Series) of North-Central Texas

" Exposures of Mingus Shale Member occur in Parker and Palo Pinto counties. The shale is light to dark gray and consists mainly of poorly laminated, slightly weathered, silty to clayey shale, and commonly contains lignitic material. The shale also contains limestone and sandstone lenses. A limestone lens near the top of the unit is fine-grained, irregularly bedded, light gray in color, and has a maximum thickness of 6 feet. The total thickness of the Mingus Shale Member is approximately 250 to 300 feet. "
