A Grayson fm. pit, Denton co., Tx
March 22, 2008

Today members of the Dallas Paleontological Society collected fossils from a great locality near Denton, Texas created by recent construction. The site consists of two massive pits dug for the foundation of new buildings.

The geological formations exposed here are Grayson (higher levels) and Mainstreet (lower levels).  The locality exposes both formations because fossils indicative of both are prevalent.
The group gathered early in the morning for a group breakfast.  After breakfast Roger Farish (the trip leader) gives us directions to the location.

One pit had water and the other contained less water but a lot of rock piled in it.

Here are some Turrilites segments.  They are difficult to find with multiple turns intact.
