Today the Dallas Paleontological Society took a field
trip to a Pleistocene gravel quarry near Hutchins, Texas. The day
started with everyone gathering at a gas station to caravan to the actual
quarry. |

At the back of the quarry in the upper dark silty layer are
discovered a lot of pieces of bone including a skull and long limb bones
which turn out to be Human. |

Also found are miscellaneous bits and pieces of bone in
sediment which also contain a bright orange material. Polly pointed
out that this maybe ceremonial ochre. |

Around lunchtime the quarry operator displays the best find
to come from the gravel sifters, a mammoth tooth. |
